Andonovski: We have no data because there are no reporting mechanisms for cyber-attacks

Skopje, 1 November 2024 (MIA) – The country has no analysis on cyber-attacks and assessed risks and susceptibility of the institutions. There is no data because there is no reporting mechanism for such cases.

“We’ve inherited a difficult situation in which the biggest problem is that such information is missing. This kind of analyses is envisaged with the threat and incident monitoring tool that will not only analyse what is happening, but it will also tell us what kind are they because there are threats and incidents nonstop. Some made by mistake by employees due to their low level of cyber hygiene, some made after clicking the wrong link that was sent – phishing attacks. And also, there are major attacks against institutions. We still don’t have data because there are no reporting mechanisms,” Minister for Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski said when asked at Friday’s news conference on the adoption of the 2024-2028 National Cyber Security Strategy.

He said he expected with the strategy’s adoption, each institution will have precise tasks to report any kind of incidents and to follow them real time.
