Skopje, 15 March 2023 (MIA) – Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi expects analyses that should show whether the prices of sugar, eggs and cooking oil will be frozen, to be finished by Friday.

Bekteshi told Telma TV that additional data from the chambers of commerce and the Customs Administration are awaited. 

“The analyses have not been completed. I expect by Friday they will be finished, he added. We are waiting for additional data from the chambers and the Customs Administration. We will then inform the government. If there is a possibility, we will reduce the prices. Producers mainly refer to the price of soybeans and corn. There is a decrease in the prices of corn on the world stock markets, while for the soybeans it is the opposite,” Bekteshi said.

According to him, analyses of the prices of meat products, fruits and vegetables are not conducted in the Ministry of Economy.

“The Ministry of Economy does not have mechanisms for measures in the field of fruits and vegetables. I discussed with Minister Ljupco Nikolovski that the Ministry of Agriculture should do analyses. If the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy has a specific proposal, we will accept it. The same applies to meat products,” Bekteshi said.
