Skopje, 5 August 2022 (MIA) – Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski says accusations between the Head of the Public Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption, Vilma Ruskovska, and the Financial Police Director, Arafat Muaremi, have a detrimental effect on trust in institutions.
“This causes harm to citizens because trust in institutions is lost, and anyone who holds any position must take responsibility – ethical, moral... If trust in institutions is lost, it is the biggest problem,” Spasovski told Kanal 5 TV.
The Head of the Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption Ruskovska called on all relevant institutions in the country as well as all international institutions and embassies “once and for all to check the facts and make it clear who is fighting crime in this country and who is committing the crime.” Her reaction followed after Financial Police Director Muaremi said he will file a criminal complaint against her and prosecutors Ivana Trajcheva and Elizabeta Josifovska.
The EU Delegation in Skopje told MIA in a statement earlier on Friday that the European Union is following closely all related developments, including the recent public exchanges between Ruskovska and Muaremi, and calls on the issue to be addressed by the competent authorities.
