Skopje, 8 April 2026 (MIA) - Macedonia is the first country in Europe to have this type of strategic dialogue with the United States, we also have an joint statement on tariffs, some investments have been confirmed, others will follow, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Wednesday.

"Firstly, we have been received there at a very high level. Mr. Landau is the second-ranked official in the Department of State, he is Marco Rubio's deputy and is heading the U.S. delegation. Many topics in the fields of defense, digital transformation, energy and security were opened yesterday. The Department of State, the White House and Landau himself have clearly highlighted the country's role within our partnership, that we are equal partners, that they seriously value what we are doing as a country within NATO and other international organizations," PM Mickoski told reporters.

He added that Macedonia is the first country in Europe to have this type of strategic dialogue with the United States.

"We also have a joint statement on tariffs, some investments have been confirmed, others will follow. Therefore, we are a step closer to being the United States' strategic partner in the region," said Mickoski.
