Skopje, 15 January 2026 (MIA) – Not a single Macedonian citizen in Iran’s territory has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade for assistance and Minister Timcho Mucunski stated that all resources are ready in case evacuation is necessary because the country doesn’t have a resident diplomatic office in the country.
“Up to this point, no Macedonian citizens in Iran’s territory has asked us for help,” Foreign Minister Mucunski said Thursday.

He mentioned that earlier this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade urged the citizens to avoid non-essential travels to Iran due to the security situation worsening there.
“Bilateral cooperation with Iran isn’t at the highest level. As you may know, we don’t have a resident diplomatic office there, but all of our resources are prepared to be made at disposal in case of evacuation of our nationals,” Mucunski told reporters.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade called on Macedonian citizens who are currently in Iran to leave the country when security conditions arise.
Also, the Ministry urged the citizens to postpone all non-essential travels to Iran.
New assistance capacities have been opened, said the Ministry, including SOS phone number +389 75 268 736; the e-mail address globalsos@mfa.gov.mk , and the landline of North Macedonia’s Ankara diplomatic office +90 539 456 97 10.
