Beirut/Tel Aviv, 12 March 2026 (dpa/MIA) - The Israeli military said early on Thursday that it had struck dozens of positions belonging to the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in a heavy wave of attacks on Lebanon.
The air force struck 10 targets in the Dahiyeh suburbs of Beirut within 30 minutes, including a Hezbollah intelligence headquarters, the command centre of the elite Radwan unit and other command posts, the Israeli military said.
Forces also hit multiple rocket launchers and dozens of Hezbollah operatives while they were preparing attacks on Israel, the military said. Guided by Israeli ground troops, the air force struck more than 20 additional targets across Lebanon, the statement added.
The strikes followed rocket attacks by Hezbollah on northern Israel. The militia had resumed firing rockets at Israel about a week and a half ago after a longer pause, in response to the killing of Iran's supreme leader, ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Since then, Israel has carried out broader attacks on targets in Lebanon. According to official figures from Beirut, the escalation has displaced nearly 760,000 people in Lebanon.
