Bozhinovska-Malinvaud: The most extensive energy renovation of public facilities in the country to date

Skopje, 20 January 2026 (MIA) – Implementation of the plan for reconstruction of facilities used by public sector institutions in the period between 2025-2028, a strategic document that lays down a clear, three-year framework for the most extensive energy renovation of public facilities in the country to date was the focal point of Tuesday’s working meeting in Skopje of Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, and Mélanie Malinvaud, official of the French Development Agency (AFD), held in view of the public facility reconstruction plan – one of the key pillars of the country’s Reform Agenda.

It involves a plan already adopted by the government following a comprehensive process of alignment with 33 institutions, which affirms its institutional and strategic importance for the modernization of the public sector, said the Energy Ministry.

“The Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources has been focused on securing funds to complete the tasks stemming from the Reform Agenda and from existing legal commitments. According to the legal framework, it is planned that at least 3 percent of the total ground surface of public buildings should be reconstructed each year with energy efficiency measures being mandatory,” said the press release.

A scoping study is being prepared at the moment to detail building rehabilitation parameters as well as clear criteria that prioritize facilities to undergo reconstruction.

“The country is making a breakthrough in reducing energy consumption, lowering the costs of the public sector, improving work conditions of the institutions and significantly reducing harmful gas emissions according to the European climate policies. This reform is considered a concrete step toward greener, more economical and more sustainable public administration with direct benefits for the citizens and the state budget,” said the press release.
