Hamburg, 21 July 2024 (dpa/MIA) — German Olympic champion Alexander Zverev continued his strong warm-up for the Paris Games by reaching the Hamburg ATP final with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Spain's Pedro Martínez on Saturday.
Zverev injured his knee at Wimbledon but recovered to return to the clay in his home city, perfect preparation for next week's Paris Olympics at Roland Garros.
He sent down a remarkable 13 aces against Martinez and in Sunday's final faces Frenchman Arthur Fils, who beat Sebastian Baez of Argentina 6-2, 6-2.
Zverev converted three of eight break points and was never broken himself, offering Martínez just one opportunity.
The world number four prevailed on his second match point.
