Kyiv, 3 May 2023 (dpa/MIA) — Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is blaming Russia for fabricating the alleged drone attack on the Kremlin.
"We are not attacking Putin or Moscow, we are fighting on our own territory and defending our villages and towns," Zelensky said during a press conference in Helsinki on Wednesday.
He said Russia was making the attack up because it knows it has lost the war against Ukraine, which it launched just over 14 months ago.
The Ukrainian leader added that the Kremlin was using the story to motivate its soldiers to continue waging its war against Kyiv.
Videos of an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin had surfaced throughout the night with Moscow describing it as an "assassination attempt" on Russian President Vladimir Putin. Moscow's claims could not be independently verified.
