Washington, 28 December 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet US President Donald Trump on Sunday in a bid to secure support for his 20-point peace framework to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The White House said Trump will receive Zelensky in Palm Beach, Florida, at 1 pm (1800 GMT).
The Mar-a-Lago meeting is part of the latest push to end the war, launched by Russia in February 2022.
The Trump administration in late November presented a 28-point peace plan that unsettled Kiev and its allies by echoing several Kremlin positions.
Zelensky and his partners have since worked on a revised 20-point framework, including during recent meetings in Berlin and Miami with senior Trump administration officials, while the US has also held separate talks with Moscow.
The Ukrainian leader said he wants to use the meeting with Trump to outline red lines for his country in the negotiations. Ahead of the talks, he said the "most important thing is security guarantees" in the event of a ceasefire to protect Ukraine against a future Russian attack.
Reactions from the Kremlin to the ongoing negotiations have been muted, and Russia is not involved in the talks in Florida. Despite declaring his willingness to negotiate, Russian President Vladimir Putin has so far maintained his maximalist demands.
One of the key points of contention is Moscow's claim to the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk in the Donbass region that it does not fully control militarily.
