Xhaferi-Marin: Parliament ready to ratify Finland’s NATO accession protocol
Skopje, 20 June 2022 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi met Monday with Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin, acknowledging Helsinki’s support to European integration and its position that bilateral problems with Bulgaria should not hinder North Macedonia’s integration process. Speaker Xhaferi said North Macedonia and Finland share good relations both in bilateral and multilateral terms, saying that North Macedonia supports Finland’s aspirations to join NATO while reaffirming the Parliament’s readiness to ratify the country’s NATO accession protocol as soon as possible, the Parliament said in a press release. PM Marin voiced satisfaction from the visit to North Macedonia, praising the country for its commitment and consistency in the implementation of reforms and the efforts for sooner start of the accession negotiations, and highlighted Finland’s support in this context. She also expressed her government’s resolve to remove all obstacles in the talks with Turkey so that Finland obtains full-fledged membership in the Alliance.
