Xhaferi: Working to promote and value women as equal members of society

Skopje, 8 March 2023 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi presided over the first plenary session on the promotion of gender equality on Wednesday, which also marked the 20-year anniversary since the establishment of the Parliamentary Women's Club.

 

Women ministers and deputy ministers in the Government, former women ministers and MPs since 2003, representatives of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the local and international NGOs such as NDI, OSCE and UN Women also attended the session.

 

Xhaferi praised the work and successes of the Parliamentary Women's Club over the past 20 years. He pointed out that exceptionally significant legal changes aiming towards improvement, protection, promotion and valuing the status and contribution of women as equal members of society, so that there is no discrimination and inequality.

 

The Speaker extended a message to all women – to be loud, brave, fearless leaders in building a more humane, democratic and equal society, in which the importance, value and contribution to the family, society and the state is inviolable.

Addressing the event, Speaker Xhaferi said that the Parliamentary Women's Club is a unique blend of power and joining of different political powers into one unique option for a better, more humane world, expressing his respect for the Club’s successes.

 

Other people who were present at the event also gave addresses, and certificates of gratitude were handed out as well. Parliament Speaker Xhaferi ended his address by wishing a Happy International Women’s Day to all women. dk/nn/
