Skopje, 30 December 2022 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi extending New Year’s greeting to the citizens said that we need to focus on the North Macedonia’s progress on the EU integration path, on the better standard of living and work for our citizens as well as on better and high quality education for young people, for the future of the country.

Sharing his thoughts on what we’ve been through this past year and what’s in store for us in the coming year, Xhaferi said that we need to focus on our unification as a society.

“Even though, we cannot be prepared for everything, such as the war in Ukraine, as it was with the Covid-19 pandemic, we can focus on our unification as a society, as citizens, so that we can be more prepared and to respond more firmly to the challenges before us,” Xhaferi said in the message.

According to him, we must ignore the differences that artificially divide us, such as ethnicity, religion, party affiliation.

“The differences in relation to the marginalized groups who have twice as many difficulties in realizing their rights and obligations. We must focus on what unites us, and that is the progress of the Republic of North Macedonia on the EU integration path as well as on better and high quality education for young people, for the future of the country,” Xhaferi said.

Together, as Xhaferi underlined, regardless of all the artificial divisions, if we are united by what unites us, and that is the Republic of North Macedonia being the home of our youth, a country with European standards and values, then we have to trust each other, to respect each other, among ourselves inside and outside with our neighbors, to invest ourselves selflessly and ask ourselves – not only whet the country can do for us, but what we can do for the country to help it to be an example country at local and central level, in your home and neighborhood, in your municipality and in the state!

Parliament Speaker Xhaferi wished a Happy New Year to all citizens, lots of health, well-being and success.
