Skopje, 12 October 2022 (MIA) — Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi received the European Commission’s 2022 Progress Report on North Macedonia from EU Ambassador David Geer, according to an official press release. The meeting was also attended by SDSM parliamentary group coordinator Jovan Mitreski; DUI parliamentary group coordinator Arber Ademi; VMRO DPMNE MP Antonijo Miloshoski; Alliance for Albanians MP Adnan Neziri, and General Secretary Cvetanka Ivanova. “Ambassador Geer, presenting the country’s progress report, highlighted the section on Parliament as a forum for constructive political debate, especially on the EU reform agenda,” the release says. According to the report, Parliament should have an active and positive role in the EU accession negotiations, bolstered through efforts made by all parties together. The report also notes the need of continuing the Jean Monnet Dialogue, the release adds. Xhaferi said political parties needed to consistently fulfill their campaign promises related to their European integration goals.
