Xhaferi meets new Slovenian Ambassador Presker

Skopje, 7 September 2023 (MIA) — Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi received Thursday the newly appointed Ambassador of Slovenia Gregor Preskera and discussed the latest developments in Parliament and the procedure of updating the Constitution.
According to an official press release, Ambassador Presker said the Republic of Slovenia was offering unwavering support for the Republic of North Macedonia's aspirations for European Union membership, just as it had supported its NATO membership.
He highlighted the importance of sustaining the momentum on the EU path through meeting the requirements for opening the negotiation chapters.
Parliament Speaker Xhaferi and Ambassador Presker also reaffirmed the excellent bilateral ties and spoke about intensifying cooperation at the level of parliament speakers and cooperation groups through ongoing and planned activities.
Presker also expressed gratitude for the country's help in Slovenia's efforts to deal with the consequences of the recent floods.
Meeting participants welcomed the opportunities for students from North Macedonia at Slovenian universities as well as Slovenian business investments into the country, "especially the Slovenian development aid of 35 million euros invested in several social segments, which is planned to continue," the release says.
Xhaferi congratulated Presker on his post as Ambassador and wished him a successful term of office. mr/
