Skopje, 3 May 2022 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi met Tuesday with representatives from the Institute for National History and Ss. Cyril and Methodius University (UKIM) – Skopje on the 150th anniversary of the birth of revolutionary Goce Delchev.
Xhaferi stressed that the Parliament supports programs that mark important events and prominent people, including the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Goce Delchev. He reaffirmed that he strongly values the work and efforts of scholars, historians and professors who contribute greatly to the development of the intellect, culture and education of a society, the Speaker’s office said in a press release.
Institute for National History and UKIM representatives pointed out that due to the pandemic, as well as other financial difficulties, recently they haven’t been able to do much work in terms of research and therefore hope that activities within this event will enable them to work together to achieve the goals set.
According to them, the purpose of the event is not only to mark Goce Delchev’s 150th birth anniversary, but even more, to pass knowledge to new generations about the period when Goce Delchev lived.
Speaker Xhaferi and the participants in the meeting agreed that the celebration of this anniversary is very important for the country because Goce Delchev’s ideals and visions should be part of every citizen, and every citizen should feel part of independent, sovereign and democratic Republic of North Macedonia, a country that shares and respects European values.
