Xhaferi - Kocevski: Institutions should demonstrate effectiveness to organize fair elections

Skopje, 28 March 2024 (MIA) – Caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi met Thursday with the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of North Macedonia, Ljupcho Kocevski. The meeting took place by a request sent by PM Xhaferi in line with the government’s responsibility to organize fair and democratic elections, the government said in a press release.
At the meeting, Xhaferi stressed the government’s unwavering commitment to organize elections, which will reflect the real will of the citizens. He said that the government’s activities are taking place according to the legal responsibilities. “Xhaferi personally and the government officials are championing a narrative of positive climate ahead of the elections,” said the press release.
Public Prosector Kocevski welcomed Xhaferi’s initiative aimed at coordinating activities for successful organization of the elections with the support from all institutions that are part of the process.
Kocevski expressed his full support for the activities to recognize and thwart actions that are against the pledges for organizing fair election processes in line with the law, said the press release.
“It was jointly concluded that the double elections in the country are of key importance as part of the expectations for the Republic of North Macedonia to advance in the EU integration process. To that end, the role of all relevant institutions and the need for effective actions have been highlighted for the purpose of holding fair and democratic election processes. Both parties said they expected all participants in the elections to act responsibly and contribute to stimulating and maintaining an atmosphere of constructiveness,” the government said.
