Xhaferi: As future EU member, equal treatment of workers and respect of their rights an imperative

Skopje, 1 May 2024 (MIA) - On this International Workers' Day, let me extend my enormous gratitude to all workers who have professionally contributed to the strengthening of the resilience, growth and development of the economy in North Macedonia amid difficult circumstances of global health, energy and economic crises, says caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi in his May Day greeting.

PM Xhaferi says that the country should always look to promote workers' rights, share the burden and demonstrate solidarity.

"Let's protect workers and employers because it can always be better. Let's make them feel happier and equal, because only satisfied workers are loyal guardians of the public wellbeing. They then become powerful generators of the national economy and ensure a better family standard of life," says Xhaferi.

As a future EU member, he adds, we are committed to protecting workers and ensuring a fair treatment by employers, because every worker is a human being who deserves respect and dignity.
