Xhaferi and Osmani to attend 60th Munich Security Conference

Skopje, 16 February 2024 (MIA) - Caretaker Prime Minister, Talat Xhaferi, and Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani will participate in the 60th Munich Security Conference (MSC) on Friday, the Government said in a press release.

The central theme of this year's Munich Security Conference will focus on Europe’s role in security and defense, with a particular emphasis on the significance of EU enlargement in light of the situations in Ukraine and the events in the Middle East.

Xhaferi will attend several central and side events through Feb. 18, as well as hold several bilateral meetings.

"Prime Minister Xhaferi will address these and other pressing issues relevant to the Republic of North Macedonia and the region during the bilateral meetings with high-ranking political representatives from Europe, the region, and the world. The Munich Security Conference embraces a comprehensive definition of security, which encompasses not only traditional national or military security, but also takes into account – among others – the economic, environmental and human dimensions of security," reads the press release.

Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani will address a panel titled “The Future of the Western Balkans: Challenges and Opportunities for the EU and the Transatlantic Alliance”," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

“On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Osmani will hold bilateral talks with foreign ministers from several countries,” said the Ministry.
