According to a government press release, at the meeting the PM and Ambassador affirmed the close relations and overall fruitful cooperation between the two countries, as close neighbors, partners and NATO allies. At the same time, they exchanged opinions over current political developments, and reviewed the measures and activities implemented by the Government aimed at the implementation of the commitments from the Prespa Agreement and the organization of the coming presidential and general elections in the country.
Voicing gratitude for Greece’s assistance in terms of the country’s European integrations, as well as the active cooperation within NATO and other international and regional organizations, Xhaferi expressed hope that the two countries will continue to actively work towards the fulfillment of their joint vision for an economically prosperous and stable region, integrated within the big European family of nations, said the Government.
“The Prime Minister informed the Ambassador that the Government will continue to actively work on the implementation of tasks from the Prespa Agreement, which launched a new chapter in the relations between North Macedonia and Greece, and to that end, he voiced expectations that the two sides will fulfill their respective obligations,” said the press release.
Ambassador Philippidou congratulated Xhaferi on his election as Prime Minister and voiced hope that the fruitful cooperation with Xhaferi over the promotion of bilateral relations during his term as Speaker of Parliament will continue in his new post as well.
