Xhaferi – Bregu: Progress in EU integration of all Western Balkan countries benefits the region

Skopje, 17 February 2024 (MIA) - Enhancing regional cooperation is seen as a path towards the dynamic of the European integration of Western Balkan countries, the caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi and the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Majlinda Bregu jointly assessed during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that significant achievements have been made in the past few years, which were not even thought possible. These include: a region with zero roaming charges, recognition of academic and professional qualifications, and unrestricted travel with ID cards throughout the region, as visible results that facilitate the functioning of citizens, the government said in a press release.

These joint steps by the Western Balkan countries, reflect the political will of progressive political leaderships to realize the initiative for a common regional market, as a step towards the larger common goal of joining the European single market.
