Skopje, 20 November 2022 (MIA) – This day can serve as an inspiration for all of us to promote, advocate and celebrate children's rights, so that we start talking and taking actions that will build a better and fairer world for children, reads a message of the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi on World Children’s Day – November 20.
“Everyone: mothers, fathers, teachers, nurses and doctors, leaders and activists, religious and community leaders, business moguls and media professionals, as well as young people and children themselves, can play an important role in making World Children’s Day important in their society, community and country. From climate change, education and mental health, to stopping racism and discrimination, children and young people are raising their voices on issues important to their generation and calling on adults to create a better future,” reads the message.
World Children's Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day and is celebrated on November 20 each year to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare. November 20th is an important date as it is the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
