Women’s EHF EURO 2022: N. Macedonia suffers defeat to the Netherlands
Skopje, 7 November 2022 (MIA) – The Macedonian women’s national handball team lost to the Netherlands with a score of 30-15 (17-9) on Monday in Skopje, in the second match in group C of the 2022 European Women’s Handball Championship.
In the first half, the Macedonian handball players had a hard time finding the Dutch goal, which, in combination with the large number of technical errors and unrealized shots from clear positions in the attack, resulted in the opponent’s high advantage of eight goals at half-time (17-9).
The second half brought an even game in terms of result until the 42nd minute, when the score was 21-14 and the Macedonian handball players suffered a big drop in performance, going 16 minutes without scoring, while the Netherlands with a series of 8-0 at the end of the match earned a convincing victory.
With four goals, Sara Ristovska was the most efficient player on the Macedonian squad, while Jovana Micevska recorded 5 saves in goal.
In the first match at the European Championship held in Skopje, Podgorica, Celje and Ljubljana, the Macedonian team lost to France (24-14) and will look for a chance to remain in the competition in their third match on Wednesday, against Romania, who is facing France on Monday evening. ad/ba/
