Wizz Air temporarily suspends Skopje – Luxembourg and Skopje – Bologna routes

Wizz Air temporarily suspends Skopje – Luxembourg and Skopje – Bologna routes

Skopje, 27 December 2023 (MIA) - Wizz Air will cut capacity across its network from mid-January until mid-March due to a global issue with Pratt & Whitney-manufactured engines. As a result, Wizz Air will temporarily discontinue two routes Skopje – Luxembourg and Skopje - Bologna during the two-month period, the Ex-Yu Aviation News portal said.

In Ohrid, flights to Vienna will be decreased from the originally planned four weekly rotations to three weekly.

Wizz Air will temporarily discontinue Nish – Dortmund route, while frequency reductions will impact Skopje, Belgrade, Nish, Ohrid, and Prishtina.

Aerospace supplier and parent company of Pratt & Whitney, RTX, is performing quality control on engines installed in hundreds of planes across the world, which need to be removed and examined.

In April, the government signed a contract with the Hungarian airline Wizz Air to subsidize flights from Skopje to Luxembourg, Stuttgart, Salzburg, and Ljubljana. Additionally, an agreement was reached with the German airline Lufthansa for the Skopje-Frankfurt route.
