We're in no hurry with second tranche of Hungarian loan, but we need funds for Eurobond: minister

Skopje, 17 October 2024 (MIA) – We’re in no hurry with the second tranche of the Hungarian loan. We have to be sure we’ll have the money because the Eurobond is due in January 2025, Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska – Kochoska said Thursday.

Speaking at today’s debate in the government, focused on the economy, finances and public administration, the Minister said funds from the second tranche will be exclusively intended to settle the Eurobond.

“We’re in no hurry, but we have to service the Eurobond in early January. We cannot start the procedure on January 1 and have the funds by January 25. That’s why we’re starting now and funds will be used for the Eurobond and we’ll have them in January rather than by the end of the year. Being the minister in charge, I cannot wait for January to come in order to initiate a procedure for the second tranche of the loan,” stated Dimitrieska – Kochoska.

Funds from the first tranche of the Hungarian loan are intended for the municipalities that took part in a public call. The evaluation period has ended, and a section of the funds is planned for businesses.

Regarding World Bank projections on economic growth of 1.8%, the Finance Minister said the government expects the economy to grow at least 2.1% by the end of the year.
