We’ll continue to seek European solution with Bulgaria to deliver a double win, Zaev tells meeting with Eichhorst
Skopje, 17 September 2021 (MIA) – The current situation related to North Macedonia's EU accession and developments in the region were in the focus of a meeting between Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Director for the Western Balkans at the EU External Action Service Angelina Eichhorst. The meeting was also attended by Eichhorst’s deputy Marko Makovec and EU Ambassador to North Macedonia David Geer, PM Zaev posted on Facebook. “Deputy PM for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov and I stressed that it will be crucial that the EU-Western Balkans summit gives a clear message about the European future of the region, but more importantly, that the EU implements the decision of March 2020 by which North Macedonia will start accession negotiations. We’ll continue to seek a European solution with Bulgaria to deliver a double win,” said Zaev. In addition, he pointed out that the interlocutors expressed Brussels’ support once again, verified by the decision of the European Council that North Macedonia and the EU should hold the first intergovernmental conference of the process.
