Wages in healthcare and education to rise in March, says PM

Skopje, 3 January 2026 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says the Government remains committed to improving the citizens' standard of life through continued increase of wages and investments in key sectors - education and healthcare.

PM Mickoski told Vecer.mk that wages in education and healthcare would increase as per collective agreements signed with unions.

"Wages rise as a result of the agreements signed with the unions for a period of four years. Depending on the budget's capacity, wages will increase between 7.5-10 percent in 2025, 2026 and 2027, and between 10-12.5 percent in 2028," says Mickoski.

He adds that wages in the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense increased in 2025, demonstrating the systemic approach to salaries in the public sector.

"We will continue to care for the citizens' standard of life, while facilitating the social dialogue between workers and employers," says Mickoski.
