Vučić says he hopes, but not sure there will be solution for North Macedonia
Brussels, 23 June 2022 (MIA) – Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he hoped, but was not sure that a solution would be found to lift the Bulgarian veto and unblock North Macedonia’s European integration. “I talked to Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski this morning and I hope so, but I’m not sure,” Vučić told reporters in Brussels ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit. Asked what he thought about bilateralistaion of the EU accession process as Bulgaria demands, Vučić said the same had been done to Belgrade with Pristina and the Chapter 35. “I cannot say that Kovachevski is happy. We’ll see what will happen,” he added. In terms of the Belgrade – Skopje relations, Vučić said North Macedonia is to Serbia a brotherly and friendly country. “Everything you feel in Skopje, we feel it in Belgrade. We don’t expect anything from you. We expect to develop friendly relations, and I believe we will always be together on the European path and on all other paths,” Vučić added.
