Skopje, 26 October 2022 (MIA) — Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj welcomed European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson at Skopje International Airport on Wednesday evening. According to the Secretariat for European Affairs, Deputy PM Marichikj wished them successful and constructive meetings with the highest state representatives, at which they will discuss ways to deal with the energy and economic crises. Von der Leyen’s visit to Skopje begins her Western Balkans tour, during which she is set to hold meetings with Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and with President Stevo Pendarovski. Together with Kovachevski, she will attend the signing of the Frontex Agreement by Czech Ambassador Jaroslav Ludva as a representative of the 2022 Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, by Commissioner Johansson on behalf of the European Union, and by Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski on behalf of North Macedonia.
