VMRO-DPMNE, Worth It establish workgroups for talks on forming government

Skopje, 14 May 2024 (MIA) — VMRO-DPMNE and the Worth It coalition have formed their workgroups to continue talks on potentially partnering in the future government, after they agreed on general cooperation principles over the weekend, sources from both parties told MIA.


According to sources close to Worth It, the two parties' workgroups will hold their first meeting tomorrow. Asked to reveal the members of the workgroups, both parties said they would announce their names in a press release.


According to VMRO-DPMNE after the meeting held at the Worth It headquarters on Saturday, their cooperation will be based on European integration, accelerated economic development, fighting against crime and corruption, and the rule of law.


The party announced then that both sides would form workgroups to continue their negotiations.


Meeting participants included VMRO-DPMNE president Hristijan Mickoski with the party's vice presidents as well as the leaders of the Worth It coalition parties Arben Taravari, Izet Mexhiti, Bilall Kasami and Afrim Gashi.


Worth It sources said after the meeting that the talks were on the right track and in a positive atmosphere.


According to the preliminary results released by SEC, VMRO-DPMNE's Your Macedonia coalition won 58 seats in the parliamentary elections, DUI’s European Front coalition won 19 seats, SDSM’s Coalition for European Future won 18, the Worth It coalition won 13, and ZNAM and Levica won 6 seats each. mr/
