VMRO-DPMNE whip expects to secure two-third majority in Parliament over reorganization of ministries

Skopje, 3 June 2024 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE's whip in Parliament, Nikola Micevski, said Monday he expects the party will be able to secure the two-third majority needed for the adoption of legal amendments related to the reorganization of ministries in the Government.

“Currently we are working on the Law on the Organization and Operation of the State Administration Bodies, i.e., a restructuring of certain ministries and I expect that we will receive the necessary support of 80 MPs in order to deliver what the citizens requested,” Micevski said in a media statement after Monday’s first official coordination with the representatives of the parties hosted by Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi.

Micevski said the bill is in the final stages and is expected to be officially submitted in the coming days.

“We will introduce the public, the media, as well as our colleagues from the other parties, to the bill, on the basis of which we expect to receive the support for what we plan to implement as a product of the citizens in the coming period. Final consultations and meetings over certain parts of the bill are ongoing, once we finalize this, it will be completed,” Micevski said.

A higher priority right now, he said, is the establishment of Parliament’s committees, so the laws can be approved by the appropriate committees.

“Currently, only the Verification Committee and the Committee on Election and Appointment Issues have been established. Others are needed as well. I expect that during the day, and in the coming days, we will reach an understanding with the other whips over which party will hold each committee, so that Parliament can be fully operational,” Micevski said.

VMRO-DPMNE's party whip said he expects the law to be adopted by the time the mandate for the creation of the future government is granted.
