Skopje, 6 February 2024 (MIA) — VMRO-DPMNE has announced a public call for a presidential candidate the party would back in the upcoming presidential election.

Eligible candidates are those who meet the conditions for running for President contained in the Constitution's Article 80, who also agree with and support VMRO-DPMNE politics, the party said in a press release.

Applicants need to submit their political platform and the main political issues they plan on working on. The applicant who meets the party's requirements will be nominated at the VMRO-DPMNE convention scheduled for March 2.

According to the release, VMRO-DPMNE will choose "the most motivated candidate for President of the Republic of Macedonia who, together with the citizens, will win the upcoming 2024 presidential election."

"VMRO-DPMNE will defeat this government with the future candidate they choose to back as their candidate for President of the Republic of Macedonia."

"Macedonia deserves to have a President who will actively protect the state and national interests of all citizens and who will represent the country with dignity before Europe and the world," the party adds. mr/
