VMRO-DPMNE: No majoritarianism or chauvinism, majority's will is for DUI to move to opposition

Skopje, 29 May 2024 (MIA) - There is neither majoritarianism nor chauvinism. It doesn’t matter that Ali Ahmeti feels offended, what matters is that the will of the majority is for DUI to move to the opposition and face responsibility, VMRO-DPMNE said in response to DUI leader Ali Ahmeti’s press conference on Wednesday during which he said they are taking steps to prevent “majoritarianism”.

“If DUI moving to the opposition is a violation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, then Ali Ahmeti violated it when it decided to reject a government with VMRO-DPMNE and didn’t respect the result of the 2016 elections which VMRO-DPMNE won. This only means that respecting the Ohrid Framework Agreement is not related to whether DUI is in the government or the opposition. Ahmeti should stop behaving like a silly child who cries after a toy that isn’t his, since VMRO-DPMNE isn’t SDS[M], nor is DUI’s moving to the opposition in any way related to VMRO-DPMNE's attitude towards the Albanians, because DUI isn’t only the Albanians in Macedonia, DUI is the segment that robbed the Albanians just as it robbed the Macedonians,” VMRO-DPMNE said in a press release.

In the press release, the party stressed it has fulfilled its first promise, “DUI is moving to the opposition”.

At a press conference earlier on Wednesday, DUI leader Ali Ahmeti said the DUI-led coalition “European Front” is the second political force in the country, and they are taking steps to prevent majoritarianism.
