VMRO-DPMNE leader Mickoski meets Germany's Special Envoy Sarrazin

Skopje, 11 September 2023 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, alongside the party's Vice-President Aleksandar Nikoloski and the party's Executive Committee member Antonijo Miloshoski, met Monday with Germany's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin.

Talks focused on the current political and economic situation in North Macedonia and the real challenges that the citizens face, VMRO-DPMNE said in a press release.

Mickoski pointed out that with the latest changes to the Criminal Code with the use of the EU flag, the government actually prepared itself to be in opposition and directly pardoned its staff as a way to escape justice.

"One of the most important priorities of the future government will be the fight against corruption," Mickoski said.

In addition, he highlighted real problems citizens have, such as deficiencies in education, lack of textbooks, issues in the economy, high inflation and a number of failures which proved that the ruling party is far from sharing European values and goals.

Interlocutors also discussed the constitutional amendments, adds the press release, with Mickoski reaffirming the position that the current government has no legitimacy for such a move, and that the party will not accept constitutional amendments under Bulgarian dictate. ssh/nn/
