VMRO-DPMNE's allegations an attempt to divert attention, says Kovachevski
Skopje, 3 October 2022 (MIA) - Commenting on the latest allegations by VMRO-DPMNE over a scandal in the solar business, allegedly costing EUR 26 million, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Monday called it a desperate attempt of the opposition to divert the attention from the attempt made to rig a tender involving a Skopje waste water treatment station, estimated at EUR 136 million.
Speaking to reporters, he said he expects the party to apologize over the 'fake allegations.'
Kovachevski said he had transparently reported his assets adding his complete biography was available in Parliament since the moment he was deputy finance minister before being appointed as head of government.
He said as soon as he took over the post of deputy finance minister he had withdrawn his financial share from the company he had founded, Pixel Group.
The largest opposition party alleges that PM Kovachevski and his best man Gorancho Paunov had founded Pixel Group in November 2017, five months after SDSM had formed the government. According to VMRO-DPMNE, Kovacevski and Paunov by constructing a solar cartel had made a fortune of EUR 26 million.
In a reaction, Pixel Group has strongly condemned attempts to discredit the group demanding that the company's name is no longer used in the context of political marketing. The company said Kovachevski had left the ownership before being named deputy finance minister so as to avoid conflict of interest.
