Vlen to take part in leaders' meeting, coalition supports cancellation of caretaker government

Skopje, 13 January 2026 (MIA) - Vlen will take part at the leaders' meeting scheduled by Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski for Wednesday.

Vlen whip Bekim Qoku told a press conference on Tuesday that he and Bilal Kasami, one of the coalition leaders and incumbent Mayor of Tetovo, will represent the group at the meeting.

"We have accepted the invitation and decided to take part at the leaders' meeting. There are no specific topics listed in the invitation," said Qoku.

He said it is not befitting of a country negotiating to join the EU to have a caretaker government.

"We believe such a caretaker government is no longer needed, because it was agreed upon when the country was in crisis, and this is not the case anymore. We proved this as a government by administering the recent local elections, considering that the caretaker government was composed to have credible, fair and democratic elections," said Qoku.

Vlen has not yet come to a decision regarding the election districts' model.

"A single election district is one proposal and there are others as well - three districts, eight districts, open lists. Vlen is yet to decide on its preferred model and the matter is being discussed," said Qoku.
