Vitaminka has enough raw materials to keep up sunflower oil production
Prilep, 15 March 2022 (MIA) — The country’s main maker of sunflower oil, Vitaminka, has imported enough sunflower seeds to produce the principal cooking oil in North Macedonia for at least the next few months, Vitaminka’s export manager Ljupcho Veleski told MIA’s Prilep correspondent. According to Veleski, Vitaminka’s production of sunflower oil covers around 60 percent of the needs of the domestic market. “Macedonia has a limited production of sunflower seeds, so we mainly get our supply from abroad. Given the new measures and restrictions, our [cooking oil] production is for the domestic market,” Veleski said, adding that the food manufacturer had a sufficient reserve of raw materials for some time and the price of its cooking oil was is in line with the government’s guidelines. As for the export of Vitaminka’s other products, except for the more expensive transportation, he said there were no other problems at the moment despite “the Ukraine crisis adding to the pandemic that shook the world economy and disrupted global supply chains.” “Vitaminka exports to 30 countries,” Veleski said. “The first quarter of this year gives us hope that export growth will continue. Demand at foreign markets is steady. But no one can predict what will happen next.” mr/
