Velkovski – Geer: EU remains strong supporter of state in efforts to reduce unemployment, improve welfare

Skopje, 8 February 2024 (MIA) — The European Union will continue to provide financial and logistical support for the creation of quality policies improving welfare services and the labor market by raising the employability of citizens to reduce unemployment, according to a press release from the meeting between caretaker Minister of Labor and Social Policy Gjoko Velkovski and EU Ambassador David Geer earlier on Thursday.

According to the release, meeting participants discussed current activities and plans for the future.

"Velkovski said his priority in the next three months was to increase the transparency and efficiency of the ministry's work and the institutions under its jurisdiction, so citizens would be able to simply and promptly exercise all their legal rights," the release says.

The meeting also discussed the joint activities of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the EU Delegation. Ambassador Geer said the European funds would remain available for supporting projects and measures that benefit citizens. mr/
