Skopje, 5 January 2023 (MIA) – Due to the energy crisis and particularly in relation to the heating energy crisis, it is important for both ESM and North Macedonia that we have a secure and stable supply of natural gas, and we expect to receive Türkiye’s support in this area in the future, Director General of the Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM), Vasko Kovachevski, told Thursday’s meeting with the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez.

According to a press release by ESM, the meeting was held in the building of the Government of North Macedonia.

Kovachevski introduced Energy Minister Fatih Dönmez and the members of his delegation with ESM’s capacities, the production of electricity and heating energy, as well as their management of the current energy crisis.

The ESM head stated it is good that, amid an energy crisis, the country has support from Türkiye, which has increased opportunities and capacities for electricity production and for gas supply.

“At the meeting, information and experiences were exchanged with the representatives of Turkish state-owned company BOTAŞ, whose primary activity is the sale, distribution and storage of natural gas. In January a special meeting between ESM and BOTAŞ will be held regarding the supply of natural gas. At that meeting we will also discuss the energy capacities, the possibility for the supply of energy resources and other options for aid and support from Türkiye in the field of energy,” said ESM in the press release. ad/nn/
