Skopje, 6 October 2022 (MIA) – USAID kicked off its campaign marking 30 years of partnership with North Macedonia on Thursday. Traveling caravan “Get Inspired for the Future” began its journey by visiting Ohrid, where Jeri Dible, the USAID Country Representative for North Macedonia, addressed the attendees. “Our programs were aimed at promoting decentralization, judicial reforms, transparent governance and initiating solutions for e-government,” said Dible. She added that they strengthened the competitiveness of the economy, encouraged foreign investments into Macedonian businesses and, according to her, helped create jobs, strengthened entrepreneurship and aided the process of starting businesses. “We also promoted energy efficiency, reduced energy consumption and helped create policies to comply with EU regulations. In addition to this, we strengthened the educational system, starting from elementary school and all the way to university education,” said the USAID Representative. Dible’s address at the event in Ohrid was followed by a motivational speech by the renowned young designer Marta Pejoska, an avant-garde fashion show of clothes made of recycled materials and designed by high school students under the mentorship of fashion designed Irina Tosheva, followed by a photography exhibition and a concert by the jazz band of the Music Academy at “Goce Delchev” University. The USAID informed that as part of the activities marking the 30th anniversary its traveling caravan will visit Ohrid, Shtip, Tetovo, Bitola, Kavadarci, Kumanovo, Strumica and Skopje. Activities led by young people, students, teachers, artists, entrepreneurs and other professionals from various USAID programs are planned as well. “These activities are being carried out in order to show the results of the partnership with North Macedonia, with the aim of jointly creating an environment in which everyone will be able to realize their full potential,” USAID said. As part of the activities, USAID in cooperation with the municipalities, will allow prominent young artists, in collaboration with high school students, to create a series of eight murals on the topic of “Partnership for a Better Future,” which will be painted in visible places in all of the cities visited by the caravan. ad/ik/
