Skopje, 24 December 2021 (MIA) – In the period Aug. 6 – Dec. 23, a total of 66,857 people tested positive for COVID-19. Of them, 33% were fully vaccinated, i.e. 21,806 people. According to the Ministry of Health, 45,051 people, i.e. 67% who tested positive for COVID-19 were unvaccinated.
People who have received two doses, with more than 14 days having passed since their second shot, are considered fully vaccinated, the Ministry of Health says.
In addition, unvaccinated account for 85% of hospital admissions, whereas only 15% of all patients currently in hospital are fully vaccinated.
The Ministry of Health’s analysis shows that death rate among unvaccinated people is drastically high.
“In the period Aug. 6 – Dec. 23, a total of 2,362 people died in the country of COVID-19 complications. Of those, 1,850 weren’t vaccinated and only 21% were vaccinated,” the Ministry says.
According to the analysis, the people who died from COVID-19 had several medical conditions. The patients had received all types of vaccines available in the country.
“All the vaccines we have provided are safe. We urge the citizens to get vaccinated, it is the only way to create herd immunity and stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2 mutations,” says the Ministry of Health.
