Skopje, 5 February 2024 (MIA) – University students staged Monday a protest in front of the building of the Ministry of Education and Science aimed at voicing their disapproval with the Ministry’s efficiency due to untimely payment of scholarships and other subsidies.

The protest is being organized by the University Student Assembly at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (USS-UKIM), alongside the student assemblies from the University St. Clement of Ohrid in Bitola, Goce Delchev University in Shtip, Mother Teresa University in Skopje, American University of Europe - FON and the American College. Informal organization “Student Resistance” decided to join the protest as well.

Expressing their revolt through boos, banners and ‘red cards’, the students demanded change and responsibility at the protest. 

At the protest, the students sought greater efficiency from the Ministry due to untimely payment of scholarships, late payment of transportation vouchers and late payments following agreements concluded for retroactive payment of scholarships and issues with the subsidized student meal.
