New York, 9 July 2024 (dpa/MIA) - The Russian strike on a children's hospital in Kiev will be discussed at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

Permanent member France and non-permanent member Ecuador had requested the emergency meeting. It is scheduled for 4 pm (2000 GMT) on Tuesday.

Russia launched a wave of missiles at multiple Ukrainian cities on Monday, killing at least 20 people in Kiev and 11 in the central city of Kryvyi Rih. Authorities said more than 125 people were injured.

The attack on Ukraine's largest children's medical centre stunned the country and prompted condemnation from several countries.
