UN says no ships will cross Black Sea on Wednesday
New York, 1 November 2022 (dpa/MIA) - The United Nations announced a halt to shipments via the Black Sea for Wednesday due to Russia's withdrawal from the deal to allow vessels to move to and from Ukrainian ports for essential exports.
"The Ukrainian, Turkish and United Nations delegations agreed not to plan any movement of vessels in the Black Sea green initiative for tomorrow [Wednesday]," UN spokesperson Farhan Haq said in New York on Tuesday.
The UN stressed that inspections carried out after Russia suspended its participation in the deal at the weekend were a "temporary and extraordinary measure" as it pushed to continue the shipments of grain and other essential despite Russia's move.
