Ukraine reports heavy fighting and land gains near Bakhmut

Kiev, 27 July 2023 (dpa/MIA) - The Ukrainian army said Thursday that it has gained ground in the eastern region of Donetsk, south of the Russian-occupied city of Bakhmut.
"We are gradually moving forward," Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar wrote on Telegram.
The villages of Klishchiivka, Kurdyumivka and Andriivka were the focus of intense clashes.
In the evening, the general staff report again spoke of repelled Russian attacks south of Klishchiivka and Russian bombardments near Kurdyumivka.
The deputy defence minister said that Ukrainian forces were also repelling Russian counterattacks north of Bakhmut.
There were also unsuccessful Russian attacks in the Kupyansk sectors on the Kharkiv Oblast border and Lyman on the Luhansk Oblast border.
The Ukrainian army command did not give any details about the fighting in the southern Zaporizhzhya region and in the southern part of the Donetsk region.
