Tetovo, 8 September 2023 (MIA) - Friday marks two years from the fire in the Tetovo modular hospital that claimed 14 lives, with ten others injured. Most of the deceased were patients treated for Covid-19, while two were family members.
The first-instance trial has finished with two suspended sentences, one fine and two acquittals, whereas the investigation on the contract for procurement of the modular hospital is still ongoing.
The two directors of the Tetovo clinical hospital - Florin Besimi and Artan Etemi - received suspended sentences, while the legal entity - the Tetovo hospital - was found guilty of causing general danger.
The Tetovo public prosecutor's office has lodged an appeal against the suspended prison sentences.
Family members of the fire victims said they would stage a protest today, urging for a new indictment in the case.
