Two transmission lines in Negotino region disconnected as firefighting efforts continue, no interruptions in electricity supply

Skopje, 14 July 2024 (MIA) - Two transmission lines along the route from Pepelishte to the village of Lakavica have been disconnected for safety reasons in order to provide safe conditions for the firefighting efforts integrating air and ground operations in the Negotino region. The disconnection does not affect ongoing electricity supply, MEPSO said Sunday.
"On-duty transmission line teams of MEPSO have been on the ground over the past night and in the early hours of the morning, monitoring the situation with the fire that engulfed the stretch from Pepelishte to the village of Lakavica. In coordination with the firefighting teams, two transmission lines are disconnected for safety reasons, with the aim of enabling safe conditions for the firefighting efforts integrating air and ground operations. The disconnection of the transmission lines does not have any consequences in the ongoing supply of electricity," reads the press release.
In accordance with the Government's decision and recommendations for a state of crisis, it adds, MEPSO teams will direct their ongoing activities on the ground towards preventive and active participation in monitoring the situation with fires near the transmission lines.
