Skopje, 6 August 2024 (MIA) - In addition to those reported so far, two new wildfires broke out on Tuesday afternoon, said head of the Crisis Management Center (CMC) Stojanche Angelov. 

One is burning on the territory of Petrovec Municipality, near the village of Gradmanci, and is moving towards the village of Katlanovska Breznica. The other one is on the territory of Gevgelija Municipality, near the village of Negorci, creeping up the first houses at 50 to 100 meters away. Due to the threat to people and houses, an army helicopter has been urgently diverted there.

The CMC said earlier on Tuesday that a total of 16 wildfires were registered by 1 pm today, seven of which are active, six are contained, and three have been put out.

Currently there are active fires in Makedonski Brod Municipality- one near the villages Tazhevo and Breznica towards Jasen, the second is near the village Slatina, Ohrid- on the territory of Galichica mountain, another one in Chashka Municipality- near the villages Papradishte and Oreshe, Petrovec Municipality- near the village Gradmanci. There are also fires on the territory of Demir Hisar and Ohrid Municipalties on Ilinska Mountain - near the villages Vitovo, Bazernik, Malo Ilino and Brezhani.  The fire in the region of Bogdanci and Dojran Municipalities- near the village Furka is also active.

The fires in Delchevo, Ohrid, Plasnica, Probishtip, Studenichani and Zelenikovo have been contained.

Three fires have been put out, one on the territory of Valandovo Municipality- near the village Pirava, and two in the Gostivar region- near the Pitarnica settlement and village Gradec.
