Two linear increases of pensions most likely by March: PM

Skopje, 26 June 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski confirmed Wednesday that the linear increase of pensions would have to wait on the Budget rebalance, regarding which he and the Minister of Finance are working intensively as it is announced for mid-July. He announced two linear increases, with the alignment in September and another one in March.

"This year’s initial Budget lacks Mden 2,5 billion. We will most likely have two linear increases. We will confirm this tomorrow or the day after. We have two, a linear increase with the alignment in September of Mden 2,500, and another one in March for Mden 2,500. First, we need to ensure Mden 2,5 billion, almost EUR 40 million, with the Budget rebalance. This Budget lacks the funds. They were spent on things that I think will be very much in the hands of the investigative agencies in the period to come. An additional Mden 2,5 billion are allocated for the initial increase in September, for three months - September, October, November, because that's when the pensions are sent out. The rest will be distributed in March and thus practically our promise of a linear increase of pensions of Mden 5,000 in the first year will be fulfilled even earlier. It won't be until June, but until March," Mickoski said. ssh/nn/
