Skopje, 15 July 2024 (MIA) — Two firefighters were hospitalized Monday for minor burns from the fire that broke out near Bitola's ring road, Bitola local government sources told MIA.
One of the firefighters was released from hospital after receiving treatment and the other remains in hospital under observation. He has burns on his hands and forearm, the sources said.
Bitola Mayor Toni Konjanovski visited the hospitalized firefighter on Monday evening.
Crisis Management Center head Stojanche Angelov, in a Sitel TV interview on Monday evening, confirmed that a firefighter has sustained burns in the Bitola brushfire.
"I don't think the Bitola fire will be a big headache for us," Angelov said, adding that low-lying shrubs and trees were burning in the area.
"Unfortunately, one firefighter was injured during the extinguishing. His wrists and forearm were burned," Angelov said. mr/
